The Catch-All Section.

The work posted here is just what I deem to be worth looking at that aren’t main studio works. They may be midterm or other manifestations, either way, feel free to browse.

A branch of Architecture that deals with focus placed on non-living items and the relationships found within. The modularity of the object and the propagation of it into itself. This field of study places philosophy and theory at the forefront of what constitutes as Architecture and ushers in a transcendent experience that provokes thought exercises perception, and comments on where we can progress from where we currently are.

Object Oriented Ontology (Triple O)

After the initial formation of an architectural geometric primitive hybrid shape, students were then split into groups based on their area of interest, the specialty of this studio was "Mass and Silhouette". We were given a list of precedents and were told to create a construction combining the geometric hybrid shape and the precedent's unique features. The final product was meant to take the principles of the precedents and the specialty of the particular studio into consideration.

The precedent given to me was the Villa Snellman by Erik Gunnar Asplund, and upon further investigation of a seemingly mundane building, the piece that stood out was the overlapping space of one mass of the building to the next. This "hook" was thought provoking as an element and throughout the project there was evidence of other joint-like characteristics. Taking a massing approach to an unfolding of my geometric primitive, I looked specifically at the absences created.

The Architectural Hook.
